Laryngectomee Meeting Place, Symposium and Seminars

Primary Objectives

• 1. Support Club relocation (meeting times, third Sunday of Month @ 2:30PM at the John and Dorothy Morgan Cancer Center located at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest & I-78 Allentown, PA)
  Needs: Meeting Room, Microphone, VCR, Slide Projector, Health related Speakers, Speech Pathologist. (Please Note - previous items are not needed at every meeting)
  Benefits: Outreach for support and education to laryngectomee and their families. Speech Pathologist and health care professionals get exposure to the problems incurred by Laryngectomee, as well as helping solve them.
• 2. Laryngectomee Visitor Certification (All day seminar when and where) Official IAL and ACS: Guidelines set by IAL and ACS.
• 3. Laryngectomee and Speech Pathologist Symposium (Ideal would be a three day seminar with vendors of laryngectomee supplies present). When?
  BENEFITS: Vendors help defray costs.

A. Requirements:

• Meeting Rooms - with audio-visual equipment (Small & Large exam rooms).
• Continuing CEU Credits for Speech Pathologists (This is a must)Larry Turtan
• Allowance for hands on training for all types of speech aids.
• T.E.P. hands on training for Speech Pathologists, a must.
• Speech Pathologists fees should be enough to cover costs.
• Laryngectomee who volunteers as a subject should not pay.
• Coffee Breaks and Lunches (add to cost for lunches, or lunch on their own) Vendors sometimes pay for coffee breaks.
• Faculty should be well known in the rehabilitation of Laryngectomee.
  Who and How Much will they cost?
  Note: Local people will also be used. Volunteers - pay expenses.
• Lodging and travel for faculty "COST" - Accomodations for participants, need goody bags, tourist info, etc.
• Display area for Vendors (how much space available?)
